From Memorial Day to Labor Day, take a guided tour! Explore the legendary Black Hills of South Dakota. Our guided sightseeing tours leave from the campground by Gray Line Tours and go to Fort Hayes and Mount Rushmore. Enjoy a day trip to Mount Rushmore or a scenic mountain drive through Custer State Park.

Site Seeing National Presidential Wax Museum

If an individual tour is more your style, park the RV at our campground and rent a car - see the abundant wildlife, visit nationally acclaimed recreational trails, tour the Black Hills area attractions, or go fishing in our beautiful area lakes and streams!

During the fall season, from Labor Day in September to Native American Day in October, the area features the Black Hills Autumn Expedition. This is an especially fun time to come and stay with us - this series of community events includes:
  • Buffalo Roundup in Custer State Park
  • Black Hills Powwow in Rapid City
  • Hill City Quilt Show and Sale
  • Mickelson Trail Trek
  • Deadwood Jam

And, the fun has only just begun! We understand traveling expenses can really add up with a family, but the Rapid City KOA can help keep costs down with tons of fun amenities. After an exciting day in the Black Hills, our Rapid City campground also offers many weekly campground activities for your family to enjoy:

S’more Fun
During the evenings we’ll be having s’more fun around the campfire. Nothing tastes better than gooey marshmallows, melted chocolate and crunchy graham crackers on a star-lit summer night. We’ll even roast the marshmallows for you if you like.

Cowboy Poetry
A local legend, John Horton, sings and tells stories from a cowboy’s point of view. Performing twice a week, John keeps the crowd entertained with his Western humor and wisdom.

Watermelon Feeds
A cold, thick slice of juicy watermelon will be just right after a long day of sightseeing in the Black Hills.

Pancakes & More
Enjoy pancakes daily at the Rapid City KOA and get charged up for a full day of fun in the Black Hills. They’re made by a cowboy featured in May Midwest Living Magazine.  John Horton will keep making them until you say “Whoa”. In 2003 John was honored with a special celebration as he served up his one-millionth pancake to one lucky camper. During the past 15 summers, John’s pancake-making efforts have translated into 2 and 1/3 tons of pancake flour, 350 gallons of syrup, and 400 pounds of margarine!
